The Story Of Apple Inc Logo

One of the most easily identifiable logo is that of Apple, a company that in past one decade has changed the very definition of personal computing as we know it today. Just like the company, including its late co-founder Steve Jobs, Apple’s logos too have an unusual history.

Here’s the history behind the famous ‘bite’: The first Apple logo might seem like a sticker on a wine bottle, but it is not. During 1970s, the first logo was nowhere close to an Apple.

However, it still had something to do with apple. The logo was Isaac Newton. The image appears to be on a papyrus showing the popular anecdote from Newton’s life when an Apple fell on his head. Of course, the associated message was a quote from Wordsworth, “Newton… a mind forever voyaging through strange seas of thought.”

This Newton logo didn’t last for long and was replaced by a multi-coloured Apple logo bitten on the right side. This logo was designed by Rob Janoff and there are several stories that try to explain the idea behind this Apple logo. But the most popular is the one which says that it is a tribute to Alan Turning, the father of modern computing who committed suicide by taking a bite from a cyanide-laced Apple.

Then, in 1998, Apple introduced its monochrome logo. Though in the current design, the outline remains the same, but it now features only two colours: white and aluminium.

What is OEM?

An Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) refers to companies that make products for others to repackage and sell. Resellers buy products from these companies in bulk, without the costly retail packaging and customer service that comes with individually sold units. The product itself is essentially the same as more expensive, retail-packaged versions. OEM products are used in many industries, but are perhaps most prevalent in electronics.

How These Products Are Used

Generally, dealers of OEM products add something of value before reselling the merchandise. A vendor that does this is known as a Value Added Reseller (VAR). A VAR might build components, sub-systems, or systems from parts made by other manufacturers. These goods give VARs a wide range of creative marketing choices, which helps smaller dealers remain competitive in a marketplace.

Multiple VARs Working Together

OEM products can be utilized at several different levels of an industry. For example, assume a fictitious company, "Head Music," makes popular sound cards, but wants to introduce a Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) drives to the marketplace. Not making DVD drives themselves, they enter into a contract with another company to supply drives to them. "Head Music" receives the manufactured DVD drives in bulk, affixes their own logo to the players, and then bundles them with their sound cards and repackages them as "Head Music DVD Drive and Sound Card."

Taking this a step further, another company can act as a secondary VAR and use Head Music's DVD and sound card package to build Personal Computer (PC) systems for sale. They contact Head Music and enter into a contract to buy the DVD and sound card combos in bulk. Head Music now acts as an OEM for this new company.
They ship bundles to the PC company, which acts as a VAR, without expensive retail packaging and at a substantial savings. The PC company installs the packages into their PCs, along with other products like motherboards and hard drives. Even the Operating System (OS) usually comes from a different manufacturer, for example a version of an OS from Microsoft®. When the VAR is finished, they offer a PC with brand name components and software at a competitive price.

Product Labeling and Tracking

OEM hardware and software often have different product numbers than retail packages, though manufacturers and resellers still track these products internally. Reseller and retail versions of software function essentially the same. There can be some differences, however, such as a software program tied to a particular component in a computer, allowing it only be used with that pre-built system and no other computers.

Warranties and Customer Service

The public can often purchase OEM hardware and software at a substantial savings. Hard drives are typical examples of these products, purchased in an anti-static wrapper without a box, cables and manual. The warranty is generally the same, with software drivers, digital manuals, and additional support available online, when not provided with the product itself.

Some products, however, do have shorter warranties. This is true of some computer processors, for example, where the retail version carries a three-year warranty, but the OEM version includes only a one-year or 90 day warranty. Manufacturers provide support and warranty details with products, which should be read by anyone considering using them. A VAR that uses these products typically offers its own warranty on the items it sells, rather than coverage from the manufacturer.

What is the Difference Between http and https?

Hypertext Transfer Protocol (http) is a system for transmitting and receiving information across the Internet. Http serves as a request and response procedure that all agents on the Internet follow so that information can be rapidly, easily, and accurately disseminated between servers, which hold information, and clients, who are trying to access it. Http is commonly used to access html pages, but other resources can be utilized as well through http. In many cases, clients may be exchanging confidential information with a server, which needs to be secured in order to prevent unauthorized access. For this reason, https, or secure http, was developed by Netscape corporation to allow authorization and secured transactions.

In many ways, https is identical to http, because it follows the same basic protocols. The http or https client, such as a Web browser, establishes a connection to a server on a standard port. When a server receives a request, it returns a status and a message, which may contain the requested information or indicate an error if part of the process malfunctioned. Both systems use the same Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) scheme, so that resources can be universally identified. Use of https in a URI scheme rather than http indicates that an encrypted connection is desired.

There are some primary differences between http and https, however, beginning with the default port, which is 80 for http and 443 for https. Https works by transmitting normal http interactions through an encrypted system, so that in theory, the information cannot be accessed by any party other than the client and end server. There are two common types of encryption layers: Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), both of which encode the data records being exchanged.

When using an https connection, the server responds to the initial connection by offering a list of encryption methods it supports. In response, the client selects a connection method, and the client and server exchange certificates to authenticate their identities. After this is done, both parties exchange the encrypted information after ensuring that both are using the same key, and the connection is closed. In order to host https connections, a server must have a public key certificate, which embeds key information with a verification of the key owner's identity. Most certificates are verified by a third party so that clients are assured that the key is secure.

Https is used in many situations, such as log-in pages for banking, forms, corporate log ons, and other applications in which data needs to be secure. However, if not implemented properly, https is not infallible, and therefore it is extremely important for end users to be wary about accepting questionable certificates and cautious with their personal information while using the Internet.

What are Network Devices?

Network devices are components used to connect computers or other electronic devices together so that they can share files or resources like printers or fax machines. Devices used to setup a Local Area Network (LAN) are the most common type of network devices used by the public. A LAN requires a hub, router, cabling or radio technology, network cards, and if online access is desired, a high-speed modem. Happily this is much less complicated than it might sound to someone new to networking.

In a network, one computer is designated as the server, and the others, clients. The server is connected to an external hub, which the clients are also connected to. Now that the computers each have one foot in a common electronic door (the hub), they can use the hub to pass signals back and forth. To direct these signals, the hub contains a device known as a router. The router is the equivalent of an electronic traffic cop that handles data traffic between the computers.

Sounds good, but how does the router know one computer from another? The answer is that every computer in the network must have a network card installed. These network devices each contain a unique address. In a hard-wired network, special cabling called Ethernet runs from the network card to the hub. In a wireless network the network cards and router/hub communicate using radio waves.

Network cards identify themselves on the network, sending all requests to the router with the unique return-address included. The router reads the “To” address and “From” address, and routes the traffic accordingly. In other types of networks all requests made on the local network are broadcast by the router to all machines on the network, but only the machine with the matching address responds, however this isn’t as secure because other machines can trap traffic that is not addressed to them.
Online access is optional in a local area network, but if included, a single online account can be shared by all computers on the network. When online access is available, the router not only directs traffic on the local network, but also handles requests made to the Internet and subsequent replies. The router acts as a gateway to the Internet, and also serves as a hardware firewall to keep unsolicited traffic from flowing back into the network from the wild.

One can add online access to a LAN by either attaching a router/hub to a high-speed modem, or by acquiring a high-speed modem that has a router/hub built-in. The high-speed modem must be compatible with the online service. Most modems are designed specifically for use with DSL, cable or fiber optics, though some models might be made to work with more than one technology, such as being DSL and cable compatible.

When setting up a LAN all network devices must be compatible. If building a hard-wired LAN using Ethernet cabling, the network cards will be designed with an Ethernet port. If building a wireless LAN, all network devices must not only be designed for wireless use, but must speak the same wireless language or protocol. As of spring 2009 the fastest and most current protocol available is 802.11n, while the older protocol still in widespread use is 802.11g. The router/modem and network cards must all be compatible with the same protocol to communicate with one another.

Wireless network devices can also carry Wi-Fi® certification, guaranteed to be fully compliant with the standards or protocol(s) that the product supports. Wi-Fi certification comes from the Wi-Fi Alliance, the organization responsible for developing wireless protocols. Many wireless network devices are marketed as being compatible with one or more protocols, but lack certification. The guarantee might be an important consideration when setting up a business LAN, but probably isn’t a concern for home LANs.

What is Bluegrass Music?

Bluegrass music is a musical form that incorporates elements of country, folk, jazz, and blues, and it is usually played on acoustic stringed instruments. Though it is influenced by Scottish and Irish folk music, it is a distinctly American form. The name "bluegrass" comes from the band name, the Blue Grass Boys, whose singer, Bill Monroe, is often considered the founder of this musical genre.

Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys became popular in the 1940s. Their group featured instruments such as the banjo, the mandolin, and two fiddles. In 1954, Elvis Presley recorded a cover of their "Blue Moon of Kentucky." The group was a fixture of the music scene for many years, with 150 changing musicians over the decades.

Perhaps the most mainstream outlet for bluegrass music was the Coen Brother's film, O Brother Where Art Thou?, released in 2000. The film, which starred George Clooney, featured the actor and his prison friends as a band called the Soggy Bottom Boys. The movie's award-winning soundtrack featured bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley, along with other musicians like Gillian Welch.

In recent years, several modern country music artists have recorded bluegrass albums. These artists include Ricky Skaggs, Dolly Parton, and Allison Krauss, a female country singer who has won 20 Grammy Awards, more than any other female musician in history.

For bluegrass music fans, there are many summer festivals held annually throughout the United States, including Colorado's Telluride Bluegrass Festival, which draws mainstream country artists like Emmylou Harris and rock bands like Guster and Counting Crows; the Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival, and the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival in Ancramdale, New York.

In recent years, particularly since the release of O Brother Where Art Thou?, bluegrass music has increased significantly in popularity and become a major presence in American musical culture. Today, bluegrass bands and concerts can be found in every state in America.

Which Fruit Was the First Eaten on the Moon?

Astronauts had previously enjoyed applesauce while orbiting the earth, but peaches were the first fruit to be eaten on the moon. During the United States' Apollo 11 moon mission, the astronauts were able to enjoy two meals while on the moon. Along with canned peaches, the first meal included bacon squares, sugar cookie cubes, coffee and a beverage made with pineapple and grapefruit juices.

More facts about eating on the moon:
  • The second moon-side meal enjoyed during the Apollo 11 mission consisted of cream of chicken soup, beef stew, grape punch, an orange drink and date fruitcake.

  • Turkey is sometimes erroneously identified as the first meal on the moon. The astronauts on Apollo 8 were served turkey, dressing and cranberry sauce in space, but their 1968 flight did not include a moon landing.

  • Many of the foods included on early moon flights were freeze-dried, meaning that all moisture was removed from the foods, allowing them to be packed in lightweight, airtight packaging. The packaging helped preserve the taste and nutrition of the foods, allowing astronauts to enjoy balanced meals during missions.

Who is Neil Armstrong?Know About Him

On 21 July 1969, Neil Armstrong uttered the famous words, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind,” as he placed his foot upon the soil of the moon, the first man ever to stand or walk on the moon. These words, and the moon landing of the Apollo 11 mission, are perhaps some of the most memorable of the 20th century. Many people who witnessed the first moon landing in 1969 comment that it is one of the most impressive memories in the history of their lives. Armstrong was the quintessential astronaut; sometimes overshadowing those other NASA astronauts who bravely risked their lives and sometimes lost them in the Space Race to the moon. In particular, some are apt to forget that Buzz Aldrin also walked on the moon with Armstrong during that historic mission.

Neil Armstrong’s road to the moon began inauspiciously enough with his birth in 1930. Like Jim Lovell and several others who would serve in the NASA program, Armstrong was an avid scout, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. This was more difficult for Armstrong to accomplish, since his father and family moved repeatedly around his birth state of Ohio (His father was an Ohioan government official). The Armstrong family’s last move, back to his birth town of Wapakoneta, at least allowed Armstrong to finish high school, where he exhibited a strong aptitude for the sciences. This led him to first study at Purdue University, where he pursued a major in aeronautical engineering.

Money problems meant that continuation of college would have to be put on hold for Neil Armstrong. He was able to attend Purdue under the Holloway Plan, which gave full tuition for two years and then required three years of military service before beneficiaries of the scholarship could complete their four-year degrees. In 1949, Neil Armstrong was called to serve the Navy, and did so as a pilot, taking part in the Korean War and logging numerous flights. He officially left military service in 1960, but returned to Purdue in the mid 1950s to finish his degree, where he met and married his first wife, Janet Shearon. The couple had three children together, but lost their daughter Karen, when she was three.

Armstrong officially became an astronaut in 1962. His early missions were with the Gemini program, and he was on both the Gemini 8 and Gemini 11 flights. These earlier flights would be far eclipsed by the Apollo 11 mission, with Armstrong as commander. Armstrong has stated in interviews since the flight that he was only 50% certain the flight would even land on the moon, and he does admit to some fears and difficulties while traveling in space. After the success of the Apollo 11 mission, he declared his intent of not flying in space again. He continued to briefly serve NASA, but left in 1971 to pursue a career as professor at the University of Cincinnati.

The career of Neil Armstrong has been diverse. He did participate in the investigation of the Challenger shuttle disaster of 1985, and has served as a spokesman on many occasions. He’s also participated or headed boards for a variety of companies, and in 1979 became an official spokesman for Chrysler. He expressed disinterest in a political career though he was approached by both the Democrats and Republicans to run in a variety of positions. Armstrong and Shearon divorced in 1994, and Neil Armstrong remarried, to Carol Held Knight, shortly after his divorce was finalized.

Who is Benjamin Franklin? Know About Him

Benjamin Franklin was a man of many talents; an accomplished inventor, philosopher, writer, statesman, economist and musician. The eclectic and active life of Ben Franklin earned him the titles both of the model American citizen and one of the founding fathers of the United States. Franklin was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1706 although he considered Philadelphia, Pennsylvania his hometown. Franklin died in 1790 at the age of 84 and is buried in Philadelphia.

At the young age of 12, Benjamin Franklin became an apprentice to his older brother James who was a printer and ran a newspaper in Boston. The newspaper titled The New England Courant, was the first of its kind in Boston. At age 15 Franklin desperately wanted to write for the paper. Knowing that his brother would not allow him to do so, Franklin created for himself the pen name Silence Dogood; a widow who criticized society, especially the treatment of women, through letters slipped under the door at night. Franklin’s writings became extremely popular and fueled intense jealousy from his brother when he revealed that he was the author.

Among his many accomplishments, Benjamin Franklin is renowned for his scientific work with electricity. Franklin was the first to prove that lightening was in fact electricity. He did this by developing his famous kite experiment which intended to extract electricity from a developing storm. Although he designed the experiment, he was not the first person to carry it out. From his work in electricity, Benjamin Franklin invented the lightning rod, which is designed to protect tall structures from being struck and damaged during electrical storms.

Benjamin Franklin is one of the founding fathers of the United States. He was instrumental in securing military and financial assistance from France which was critical in the young nation’s independence from British rule.

Ben Franklin’s wisdom lives on in many popular adages that are spoken today. He wrote “If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are dead and rotten, either write something worth reading or do things worth the writing,” which he unquestionably made true for himself. Some of his other popular quotes include:

“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise.”

“He is ill clothed that is bare of virtue.”

“But in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”

Lyrics of The Disco Song (Disco Deewane)

There’s something about tonight
Something very special
Something about the way you move that thing
Something very special
Something about the way you have made
Something very special
There’s something about tonight
Something very special (Repeat once)

Here we go..
Sari ki sari duniya bhula ke
Main toh tere naal nachna (Baby you’re so sexy)

Boy you could be
My one and only
Main toh tere naal nachna

Then I see you lookin’ on me
Aaja baat kar le dil ki
Hone lagenge afsaane

You know it, so sing it
Now do your hands up and say

Disco deewane
Aahan, aahan
Ho disco deewane
Aahaan, ahaan ho
Nasheeli hai raat
Ho haathon mein haath
Naachein gaayein saath..
Disco deewane
Aahaan, ahaan ho

There’s something about tonight
Something very special
Something about the way you move that thing
Something very special
Something about the way you have made
Something very special
There’s something about tonight
Something very special

Ho hai na
Mujh pe nazar teri
Aankhon hi aankhon mein
Baatein hoti hain
Aaja baahon mein aa meri
Aise hi to raatein

Oh radha tera challa
Oh radha teri natkhat najariya
Oh radha tera jhumka
Oh radha tera thumka
Oh peeche peeche saari nagariya

Hey radha radhe kaahey itna guroor pala
Chodho bhi nakhrey yeh kaisi adaa
Tune kya socha ik tu hi mashoor yahan
Lakhon hai gopiyan bhi hum pe fidaa
Oh saari hi duniya yeh maani hai
Shuru hum se teri kahaani hai
Oh rehne de re kahnaa
Bhulega tu sataana
Jo girungi main banke bijuariyaa

Oh radha teri chunari
Oh radha tera challa
Oh radha teri natkhat najariya
Oh radha tera jhumka
Oh radha tera thumka
Oh peeche peeche saari nagariya

Radha on the dance floor
Radha like to party
Radha like to move
And sexy radha party
Radha on the dance floor
Radha like to party
Radha like to move
And sexy radha party

Ho panghat pe aake sayiaan marodey bayiaan
And everybody carzy on radha
Chedhe hai humka thayiaan gari kanhiyaa
And everybody carzy on radha
Hoga woh lakhon dil ka chor
Humka toh laage bore
Hua hai aisa baawala jo kehta jaaye

Oh radha teri chunari
Oh radha tera challa
Oh radha teri natkhat najariya
Oh radha tera jhumka
Oh radha tera thumka
Oh peeche peeche saari nagariya

Oh radha teri chunari
Oh radha tera challa
Oh radha teri natkhat najariya
Oh radha tera jhumka
Oh radha tera thumka
Oh peeche peeche saari nagariya

Radha on the dance floor
Radha like to party
Radha like to move
And sexy radha party
Radha on the dance floor
Radha like to party
Radha like to move
And sexy radha party

Lyrics of Vele

Assi vele sab vele
Aa vela ho ja re
Assi vele sab vele
Aa vela ho ja re
Assi vele sab vele
Aa vela ho ja re
Assi vele sab vele
Aa vela ho ja re
Ho motoron mein dhichuk dhichuk
Gede shede maarein
Fursaton ko dhuan dhuan
Karke shaam udhaade
Kar rahein badmaashiyaan
Bole uncle auntiyaan
Apni aisi yaariyan
Duniya pe mitti paaye
Saanu vele kehnde saanu ki
Assi kehnde rehnde saanu ki
In a shining shining future
Sadda bright si
Saanu vele kehnde saanu ki
Assi kehnde rehnde saanu ki
Oye mitran de sang
Oh thodi thodi apni aisi ha
Ke tuk tuk saare dekhenge
Ho badi badi aankhien kholenge
Ji thoda humko bolenge
Yaar hai apne favour mein
Ghoome hai fir toh tevar mein
Changi saariyan apni yaariyan
Hai forever hoye
Ho botlon mein peg sheg daale
Car bar banaake
Ho dekhein hum tota shota
Peeke do patiyaale
Saanu vele kehnde saanu ki
Assi kehnde rehnde saanu ki
In a shining shining future
Sadda bright si
Saanu vele kehnde saanu ki
Assi kehnde rehnde saanu ki
Oye mitran de sang
Sab kuch all right si
You think you are fast
But I know I’m faster
I’m a school
And buddy I’m your master
Teaching you right
Like you never imagine
Drop the bone
From a million fathom
Popping the sound
Down to the ground
Instant your sound
Grab something buddy
Straighten around
To you laugh oh baby
The girl you found
Show all the ladies
That you care
Freedom on the floor
Pass up in the air
This is how we do it
This is how its done
We are vella
Second to none
Oh dil mein topein chalti hain
Dhadkan gotey khaati hai
Vaare nyaare hote hai
Jo hum se aankh ladh jaati hai
Karti hai kissy vissy oye
Kehti hai miss you miss you oye
Dil ko haarti jaan nissarti
Sab motiyaare hoye
Ladkiyon ke nedhe nedhe
Gaddi tez chalaake
Karte hain hum hello bye bye
Paun paun horn bajake
Saanu vele kehnde saanu ki
Assi kehnde rehnde saanu ki
In a shining shining future
Sadda bright si
Saanu vele kehnde saanu ki
Assi kehnde rehnde saanu ki
Oye mitran de sang
Sab kuch all right si
Assi vele sab vele
Aa vela ho ja re
Assi vele sab vele
Aa vela ho ja re
Assi vele sab vele
Aa vela ho ja re
Assi vele sab vele
Aa vela ho ja re

The Seven Kandas of Ramayana

The Hindu Epic Ramayana is divided into seven kandas (books) which deals with the major events in the life of Lord Rama, the 7th avatar of Mahavishnu. Ramayana was penned by Sage Valmiki and is written in a 32-syllable meter called “anustubh”.
The 7 Kandas of epic Ramayana are :

1) Bala Kanda

2) Ayodhya Kanda
3) Aranya Kanda
4) Kishkindha Kanda
5) Sundara Kanda
6) Yuddha Kanda
7) Uttara Kanda

Bala Kanda - 1st Book

Bala Kand begins with the story of Dasharatha, the king of Ayodhya, performing Putrakameshti Yagna - a fire sacrifice for attaining a child. As a result King Dasharatha is blessed with four children Lord Rama born to Kausalya, Bharata is born to Kaikeyi, and Lakshmana and Shatrughna are born to Sumitra.  Balakanda of Ramayana depicts the life of Lord Ram’s childhood and his marriage to Sita Devi.

Ayodhya Kanda - 2nd Book

Ayodhya Kand of Ramayana narrates the arrangements for the coronation of Lord Rama and his exile into the forest for 14 years for the sake of his father's honour.
Aranya Kanda - 3rd Book

In Aranya Kand, Sage Valmiki tells the story of Lord Ram’s life in the forest and the kidnapping of Sita by Ravana, the demon king of Lanka.

Kishkindha Kanda - 4th Book

Kishkindha Kand narrates the story of Lord Ram and Hanuman. The story of vanara King Vali (also known as Bali) and Sugriva of the kingdom of Kishkindha also features in this kanda.

Sundara Kanda - 5th Book

Sundara Kand depicts the story of the Hindu Monkey God Hanuman and his travel to Lanka in search of Seetha.

Yuddha Kanda - 6th Book

Yuddha Kand narrates the battle of Lord Ram and King Ravana.

Uttara Kanda - 7th Book

Uttara Kand of Ramayan depicts the story of the birth of the two sons of Lord Ram - Lava and Kusha and their coronation as the throne of Ayodhya. Being the last part of Hindu epic Ramayana, this kanda also describes about Lord Rama’s final departure from the world.
