Bol Bachchan Crosses 50 Crore Mark at Box Office



New Delhi: After a promising opening day collection of Rs 12.10 crore, Rohit Shetty’s action-comedy ‘Bol Bachchan’ went nearly houseful on the weekend and amassed Rs 50.13 crore by Monday.
 
Said to be inspired by 1979 movie ‘Gol Maal’, ‘Bol Bachchan’, made on a budget of Rs 70 crore, features Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Asin Thottumkal and Prachi Desai.
The movie collected over Rs 43.10 crore during the weekend after it released July 6. Post the opening day collection of Rs 12.10 crore, the movie made Rs 14 crore on Saturday, and approximately Rs 17 crore.
 
Presented by Fox Star Studios, the Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision and Ajay Devgn Ffilms- produced movie is reportedly Devgn and Shetty’s biggest opener, having generated 36 per cent higher figures than ‘Singham’ and around 43 per cent bigger than ‘Golmaal 3′.
Distributor Rajesh Thadani of Mumbai-based Multimedia Combine, says the film did well on Sunday and there wasn’t a big dip in the footfalls Monday.
‘Bol Bachchan’ has done pretty well all over India during the weekend. It had a business of Rs 38 crore all over India. The film picked up quite well on Sunday, and there was not a great fall on Monday either,” Thadani told IANS.
 
A comical entertainer, ‘Bol Bachchan’ has been able to pull in audiences in large numbers.”It is basically family audience that came together to enjoy the film,” Delhi-based distributor Joginder Mahajan, told IANS.
 
The film has got a tremendous response. It managed to collect Rs 7.80 crore in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and Rs 3 crore in Punjab in first three days. Since school holidays got extended, lots of families came in to watch the movie together and had a good time, said Mahajan.
Piyush Raizada, director, Delight Cinema says despite rains, it was nearly a houseful for ‘Bol Bachchan’.”The movie has received an amazing response and is appreciated among classes and masses. It did extraordinarily well on Friday and Saturday, and went houseful despite the rains,” Raizada told IANS.
 
Internationally too, ‘Bol Bachchan’ is doing extremely well when compared to other recent releases overseas.It earned a total of $2.06 million over the weekend — $540,000 (US), $255,000 (Britain), $650,000 (Middle East), $167,000 (Australia) and $450,000 from the rest of the world.
