Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Launch Date Postponed (Rumor)

Samsung has postponed the release of the SG4 Mini until mid July. May 20th was the first release date, but delays have set it forward until week 29, so we can think that the launch date would be between July 15th and July 21st.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will likely come in numerous model featuring either a quad-core processor and a single SIM or a dual-core processor along with dual SIMs, a 4.3-inch 960×540 qHD display, an 8 mega-pixel rear-facing camera and a 2 mega pixel front-facing camera and run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung’s TouchWiz UX interface.
Last year’s Mini version of the Galaxy S3 also included tech that’s not as elegant as the full-size version. The cause of this frustrating delay hasn’t been announced.

Apple Is Still Focusing On The iWallet For iPhone

Apple has presently registered a new patent application for the much discussed iWallet, as per Patently Apple.

Apple has registered many other patents on this issue, in an effort to save this iWallet solution for iPhones. Although this one is much like past patents, it concentrates more on conducting several financial dealings, just like Square.

Perhaps this means we’ll see NFC concept and the well known iWallet solution included in the next generation iPhone this year. Obviously, this is only a patent application, so we don’t know really when we can anticipate it. This patent application simply shows us that Apple is still making an effort to get the iWallet to us and our iPhones.

iPad Mini 2 Might Launch in June along with Friendly Price

Rumors stated that iPad Mini 2 is speculated to launch in June with almost a similar price as other low cost tablets. The successor of the well-known iPad Mini is stated to be launched after the launch of Google’s Nexus 7.7 in May. Thus, release date points in June.

The iPad Mini was launched at a price point to compete along with the Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle Fire range of tablets. It’s a little more costly than both of those, with a starting price of $329 for the 16GB, $429 for a 32GB and $529 for a 64GB. The starting value of the iPad Mini is a little bit higher than other tablets but speculation stated that Apple is wanting to change its pricing strategy to ensure its devices more affordable.

However, latest reports reveal the iPad Mini 2 will be an effort to bring the iPad Mini design up to a premium standard alongside its bigger counterpart with a Retina display and a processor improve, so we would anticipate the price to be fairly high accordingly. Other reports mentioned that iPad Mini 2 could be launched at an earlier date because of the high demand on the product and anticipations of the customers.

iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 Arriving Soon in April?

The Apple company is set to renew its range of tablets, with the latest iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 releasing in April. That is as per iMore’s “sources familiar with the plans” – which fits with Apple’s usual launch plan. Plus, with the latest iPad landing just 7 months after its predecessor, it looks plausible.

However, there is not so good for those looking for an iPad Mini 2 with Retina Display – battery life and size-to-weight problems apparently have the design team working extra time. If the iPad 5 arrives in April we’re expecting for a thinner type, better camera, and ideally a keyboard case like the Microsoft Surface offers.

With the Apple Television, Apple iWatch, and Apple iPhone 5S anticipated later in the year, 2013 seems set to be a bumper year for Apple – and a horrible year for Apple fans’ wallets.

10 Things To Know About MS Office 2013

The New Microsoft Office ( MS Office 2013) is available wherever you are, on whatever device you’re using at the time, and with full touch-screen support, the entire suite has been reinvented to work with Windows 8-driven tablets, regular keyboard-and-mouse desktop setups, and even smartphones. It has a completely reinvented interface.

Here is a list of 10 things that you should know about MS Office 2013:

All in the Cloud:
Microsoft’s cloud storage SkyDrive has its presence from a long time but it’s only now that SkyDrive has to play a major role to play in company’s plans. The New Microsoft Office 2013 enhances its functionality by storing all your Office Docs in SkyDrive by default. This will not only save your disk space but will also let you access the documents from any location using a remotely located device. Named Office 365, you will need to subscribe for this service. The price has still not been announced yet but is expected to come out by this fall.

Touch and Stylus:
Microsoft has taken a big leap forward by embracing the touch and stylus modes beyond the usual mouse and keyboards. Though, multi-touch laptops won’t be a primary choice for businesses, but touch is being widely accepted in the Smartphone and Tablet market. The pen, much like the one used in Galaxy Note, is also making a comeback. The features that Office 2013 is providing will resemble the ones you are much used to like swiping your fingers across to turn the page, pinching in and out to zoom and read the documents etc. The most attractive feature though is conversion of your handwritten emails into text!

The ‘Metro’:
Microsoft, in its launch of the Office 2013 conform its ‘Metro’ look that is persistent through software developers mobile apps. One more remarkable change that is worth noticing is the flatness of the ribbon in MS Office 2013 when compared to MS Office 2010.

Editing PDF:
Now you can edit your PDF documents in MS Word, a feature Microsoft has incorporated in its new launch keeping in mind the growing popularity of Adobe’s PDF format. The earlier versions did not allow you to edit PDF formats in Word and this was a major turn off as most of the documents available on the internet now come as a PDF document. Also, you can now integrate videos from YouTube and Facebook in your Word documents that can be viewed by other users while reading the file.

Excel 2013:
Microsoft has launched Excel nearly three decades ago to facilitate all the major number-crunchers and the new release Office 2013 lets Excel do what it does best without adding any drastic updates. But still, Excel 2013 offers some new templates for budgets, calendar, reports, and forms. The Flash Fill feature is also very useful as it recognizes your data and fills in the details accordingly.

Powerful PowerPoint:
As in the earlier versions where the initial page guided you to the steps to build a presentation, the newer version, has an updated Start screen that consists of new color templates and design themes. The Presenter now makes it easier for you to zoom in a part of any image, chart or graph on which you need to emphasize. The Navigation Guide lets you switch slides from a grid that is hidden from the audience. The Collaboration tools are the most important upgrade in the new PowerPoint that allows various business colleagues to work on creating one presentation that is saved in Microsoft’s SkyDrive or SharePoint.

Note-Taking:
Microsoft’s new note taking app, OneNote, is well-suited to notebooks, tablets and the added advantage Office 2013 has is its Metro-Style user interface. It automatically saves your note on SkyDrive making your idea readily available even on a remote location. It also lets you grab screens and pull them to your notebooks, a feature that might prove to be compelling to many business users who opt for Stylus based Windows RT and Windows 8 based tablets.

Skype Integration:
Microsoft Office 2013 makes it easier for you to import your Skype contacts in Microsoft enterprise-oriented Lync communication platform for calling and instant messaging. Office subscribers will be getting 60 minutes of international calls each month.

Office 2013 ‘Social’ Suite:
The new Office suite gives further direction to Microsoft’s attempt to target the large number of Enterprise users. Yammer’s acquisition last month was tentative yet the integration of the safe and secure social platform mainly used to network Enterprise users has made Microsoft’s intentions to outshine in the enterprise networking platform. The new suite is loaded with Skype and Yammer making it an obvious choice for all socially committed enterprise users. Office 2013’s People tool will now provide you detailed information about your contacts, their Facebook and LinkedIn updates and everything else you need to know about them.

Big Screen Bonanza:
The availability of big screen might not be an essential feature of Office 2013, but with its release Microsoft is all set to transform the way we work. For instance, in a classroom, the lecturer can use OneNote app to jot down lecture notes on a big screen such as Perceptive Pixel’s 82-inch monster using Stylus and the students can later download the notes in their tablets using SkyDrive. This will transform the conventional way of teaching making the profession more technology oriented.

Twitter Accidentally Resets Users Passwords

BOSTON: Micro-blogging site Twitter said Thursday that it mistakenly reset the passwords of “a large number” of its more than 140 million active users while conducting routine security screening to identify accounts that may have been compromised.

The San Francisco microblogging service and other online services reset passwords all the time if they believe someone has hacked into an account. In this case, the breach was real – the tech news site TechCrunch reported spammers hacked its Twitter account and posted some of those fake get-paid-to-work-from-home offers.

However, Twitter said, users might have to reset even if their accounts weren’t affected: “In this case, we unintentionally reset passwords of a larger number of accounts, beyond those that we believed to have been compromised. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused.”

Twitter isn’t saying exactly how big the problem was or how many accounts the company reset beyond those that were actually compromised. A company spokeswoman said “a very small percentage” of users were notified by e-mail that their passwords were reset.

Apple’s Lawsuit against Motorola Mobility Dismissed

Wisconsin District Judge Barbara Crabb threw out Apple’s suit against Google’s Motorola Mobility model over claimed patent abuse shortly before trial was to start Monday.
A week ago, Crabb questioned whether she’d legal authority to hear Apple’s claims and today she dismissed the case. No word yet if Apple will appeal. At problem is the library of patents Google acquired along with Motorola for $12.5B in May.

Apple claimed Motorola’s licensing practices were not fair. A Google representative told Reuters the company was happy with the order, while an Apple spokesperson rejected to remark. Apple and Microsoft have pursued a lawsuit against Google and allies like Samsung Electronics, which use the Android operating-system on their mobile phones.

Apple demands that Android is actually a copy of its iOS smartphone software, and Microsoft holds patents that it demands cover several Android features. Microsoft is set for a trial against Motorola in Seattle in a few days a case similar to the Apple suit in Wisconsin.

Will Windows 8 Succeed In The Market?

With barely a week away from the official launch of Windows 8, some critics of the new operating system from Microsoft are still skeptical about the success of the new OS among the users.

Intel, which makes the processors at the heart of 80 per cent of personal computers, doubts that Windows 8 will have a big impact on sales. CEO Paul Otellini said this week that he’s “very excited” about the new operating system but expects the usual holiday bounce in PC sales to be half of what it usually is. Otellini suggested that PC makers are being cautious about building big stocks of Windows 8 PCs.

Research firm IHS iSuppli expects the industry to ship 349 million PCs this year, down 1 percent from last year’s all-time high. Although small, the decline would be the first since 2001.
In the US, a mature market where consumers are gobbling up tablets, PC sales have already been declining for two years.

Meanwhile, Apple has been doubling sales of iPad tablets every year since the first model was introduced in 2010. In the April to June period, Apple shipped 17 million iPads, while Hewlett-Packard Co., then the world’s largest maker of PCs, shipped 13.6 million PCs, according to Gartner analysts.

Smartphones, which were a niche market before the 2007 launch of the iPhone, outsold PCs last year, even though PC sales were at a record high. Some 488 million smartphones were sold in 2011, according to research firm Canalys.

Windows 8 is a response to the popularity of tablets. It tosses out many Windows conventions in favor of a radical new look that’s designed to be easy to use on a touch screen. With Windows 8, PC makers are releasing a slew of laptops that double as tablets, either with detachable screens or with screens that fold down over the keyboard.

Analyst Mary Jo Foley at UBS is “leery” of Windows 8, noting that it has an entirely new look and feel. It could either be a big success, she said, or it could confuse customers and turn them off.

PC makers began the year with the hope that a new wave of lightweight laptops called ultrabooks would provide a sales lift. But ultrabooks are still expensive, with most models around $1,000, and they haven’t been compelling enough to overcome the growing popularity of smartphones and tablets.

Now, PC makers are in a tough spot when it comes to taking advantage of Windows 8, said Patrick Moorhead, a former chief executive who now runs research firm Moor Insight. Adding a touchscreen into a PC is expensive, and they’re competing with tablets that are much cheaper.

Google Maps Street View Now Available on iOS 6 and iPhone 5

It is no secret that Apple has been having a useless time with its maps. Nearly all of iOS 6 and iPhone 5 customers aren’t impressed with the new maps versus Google’s maps in iOS 5.
The issue has become so big that Apple’s Tim Cook has even apologized to iPhone 5 users about the problem and said people should ‘avoid iOS Maps, use Bing or Google’. Although it’s easy for any person running iOS 6 to use the Google Maps web app, there’s no access to Street View. So the news that Google has made Street View accessible in iOS 6 will be welcome map-related news.Google has made the Street View options available through the Safari browser.

All iPhone 5 and is iOS 6 customers have to do to find the feature is enter in the address maps.google.co.uk in Safari, tap to drop a pushpin marker, and then click the common Street View icon which pops up on the bottom right of the screen. Galaxy S III Beats iPhone 5 in Display Face-Off

Apple and Samsung are facing off again, with IHS iSuppli comparing the iPhone 5 touchscreen display with one of its main opponents, the Samsung Galaxy S III. Despite Apple’s efforts to shed weight its new touchscreen through in-cell technology, the iPhone 5 falls short of Samsung’s leading phone, as per IHS.

The latest Apple offering sports a thinner 1.5mm screen (compared to the 2.1mm iPhone 4S) and a 72 % colour gamut (more than the 4S’s 50 %). The Galaxy S III’s 1.1mm thickness and full 100 % colour gamut wins the match, but not necessarily the fight.

Having the 1st product with in-cell tech – or a touch panel including the main display – is a big success, as per Vinita Jakhanwal, director of IHS small and medium displays. Overall, the iPhone 5 is slimmer than the Galaxy S III, and its display colour gamut is more than sufficient for plenty of people, Jakhanwal said in a statement.

While the new technology gives more light to emit from the screen and helps provide a more brilliant and clearer picture, the iPhone 5 still does not meet the high colour gamut mark set by the Galaxy S III. But, it may not issue to most customers, as per Jakhanwal. A few customers have reported that the Samsung mobile actually present over saturated and impractical coloring, he said.

Samsung Can Sell Galaxy Tab 10.1 In The US

On Tuesday, a US court removed a sales ban against Samsung Electronics’s Galaxy Tab 10.1won by Apple Inc in a patent dispute, allowing the South Korean electronics maker to sell the product in the United States.
The injunction had been put in place ahead of a month-long trial that pitted iPhone maker Apple against Samsung in a closely watched legal battle that ended with a resounding victory for Apple on many of its patent violation claims.
However, the jury found that Samsung had not violated the patent that was the basis for the tablet injunction and Samsung argued the sales ban should be lifted.

Apple Seeks Ban on 21 Samsung Products including Galaxy S III

Apple has asked a federal court in a separate case to find that four additional Samsung products, including the Galaxy S III, infringe Apple’s patents.

In February 2012, Apple alleged that at least 17 Samsung products infringe its patents. In a court filing made in San Jose federal court on Friday, Apple added four more products to the list of allegedly infringing products that have been released beginning in August 2011 and continuing through this month.

Apple won a major victory over Samsung in a separate case when a jury found that the South Korean company had copied critical features of the hugely popular iPhone and iPad and awarded the US company $1.05 billion in damages.

However, Samsung is going in for an appeal on the judgement.
