PayPal team has unveiled “PayPal Here”, a new payments solution. The team claims that it will boost small businesses no matter how they prefer to work – online, offline or on mobile. What it does is that it facilitates the businesses to accept any form of payment, be it swiping credit cards using card readers or scanning process cards and checks using smartphone cameras. It also allows them to invoice directly from the mobile app.
o, PayPal Here includes a free app and a thumb-sized card reader for your smartphone. Right now, it is in the exclusive release stage in the United States, Canada, Hong Kong and Australia., but you can opt for being notified when it becomes publicly available by dropping your email address on their website. A good thing for the businesses is that their customers don’t have to have a PayPal account to make payment. PayPal Here accepts payments through Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover. There is an option for scanning checks from your smartphone device and transferring funds directly into your account. Users can also record cash payments.
If you ask about what actually happens internally, it is that once you make a sale, your money will be transferred into your PayPal account. You will be able to access your money immediately either by withdrawing them from an ATM, or making purchases with the card, if you have a PayPal Debit MasterCard (US only). But if you don’t have one, you can still spend the money out of your PayPal account, or you can transfer it to your bank account, which usually takes 3 business days. Other features right up the sleeve are:
- Electronic receipt via e-mail and SMS
- Immediate funds settlement
- Scan and manual credit card input
- Multiple item checkout
- Automated change calculation, and cash transaction tracking
- Support for multiple tax rates
